10:10:10 – take action on climate change

20 Sep

Sunday 10 October is an international day of positive action on climate change, organised by the 10:10 campaign and the international campaign group 350.org.

The idea is that “Across the world, thousands of people will take simple steps to reduce their emissions, cutting carbon and sending a powerful message to world leaders that people everywhere are ready to tackle climate change”

Events are already planned in over 140 countries, so if you are passionate about climate change, you can get involved in 10:10:10 by organising your own event, hosting a Low Carbon Sunday Lunch, or by making your home or workplace more energy efficient.  The website also features lots of inspiring ideas about how you and your colleagues or friends could get involved.

The Wave…

6 Dec

Yesterday, 50,000 people (of which I was one!) joined The Wave climate change march, to put pressure on government to take urgent action on climate change.  The march started in Grosvenor Square and ended up in Parliament Square, where the marchers circled parliament.

Here’s some footage of the march (I don’t think this is going to launch my career as a film maker), and a couple of photos along the route.
